APHIS Proposes to End EAB Domestic Quarantine - Sep 21, 2018 


EAB has become a major wood pest that attacks ash trees. It was first discovered in the United States in Michigan in 2002. Federal authorities have used a variety of quarantine restrictions to limit the intrastate transport of ash wood and ash-based wood products that could harbor the insect. Despite the restrictions, the EAB has spread throughout the country to 31 states and the District of Columbia.; Hardwood Tariff Update: The Chinese government has indicated it will impose a 5-10% duty rate starting the same day – Monday, September 24, 2018, including hardwood logs and hardwood lumber.
