Congress Considers Lacey Act Changes - May 18, 2012
Potential changes to the Lacey Act have been moving forward in Congress to the dismay of many in the forest products industry. One of the industry’s biggest concerns is that Congress is still waiting for an analysis of implementation issues of the Lacey Act that was supposed to be finished in 2010. Pallet company Edwards Wood Products, Inc. in Marshville, N.C. has received recognition for its safety program from the Occupational Safety and Health Agency. An automotive supply company is working with the Centre for Research and Innovation in the Bio-Economy (CRIBE) in Canada on a project to integrate wood fiber into auto parts.
